Elected officials spend thousands at plush resorts

Wesley Chapel, Florida --Welcome to Saddlebrook Resort, known for golf, tennis and this year the Florida State Association of Supervisor of Elections mid-winter conference.

Executive Director Ron Labasky says, the costs are paid by the counties, but what he means is the tax payers.

Labasky goes on to say, the conference, which brings supervisors and their staffs together to share common problems and ideas and get new information, is worthwhile for taxpayers.

2011 Land O' Lakes Honorary Mayor named

Land O' Lakes, FL -- The Central Pasco Chamber of Commerce awarded a local Land O' Lakes woman the title of 2011 Land O' Lakes Honorary Mayor at the Dec. 14 Holiday Party.

According to the chamber, Glenda Wilson raised $1,133.50 with 10 percent benefiting the Lutz-Land O' Lakes Woman's Club.

Wilson presented Edwina Kramer, President of the Lutz-Land O' Lakes Woman's Club with a check from her fundraiser proceeds this past holiday.

Red light camera opponents will speak up in 2011

New Port Richey, FL -- Three state lawmakers in West Pasco are ready to create a stir about red light cameras when attempts to repeal the new state law comes to a head in 2011.

According to The Tampa Tribune, newly elected state Rep. Richard Corcoran, R-New Port Richey; State Rep. John Legg, R-Port Richey; and State Sen. Mike Fasano, R-New Port Richey have become very vocal about their criticisms of red light cameras. Corcoran is planning to co-sponsor legislation in 2011.

Criticisms include that the cameras actually cause just as many accidents with more erar-end collisions and that it's just a way to raise taxes on citizens.
