Florida State Parks announces new, free mobile app

Florida-- Trees, lakes, trails, wildlife- they're all things that come to mind when thinking about Florida's parks. Techonology, smartphones and applications, howeverm are probably the last things to come to mind- until now!

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Park Services department has announced the launch of their new, free mobile application, which will serve as an interactive guide for users on the go at any of Florida's 171 parks, trails and historic sites.

Problem is, there is a cost to have those books you love to read at your fingertips. But alas, there is another cheerful gift from your local library branch! The Land O' Lakes library is adjusting with the times and accommodating the advances of technology.

Pasco County, Florida -- Pasco County Tourism has launched a mobile version of their website in order to meet the demand of visitors to its website.

The mobile site, created by Pasco County firm Digital Lightbridge, will allow users to easily access landing pages like the calendar of events and where to stay.

The county says in December 2011, more than 17 percent of the vistors to the website used a mobile device, so the move seemed like a natural progression.

It takes place at the New Port Richey Public Library, located at 5939 Main Street in New Port Richey.

You can come to Room 1 with your computer questions and problems.  You will receive free assistance in Megan's computer lab.

Pasco County Florida -- Supervisor of Elections Brian E. Corley announced Monday the Pasco County Supervisor of Elections' Office now has a mobile version of pascovotes.com for voters who quickly want to check their registration status, request a vote-by-mail ballot, or look up their precinct information.

"Getting information about voting and your registration should be easy," said Brian E. Corley in a release. "This technology will provide mobile phone users quick access at their convenience".

Land O' Lakes, Florida -- Students from Countryside Montessori Charter in Land O' Lakes were recently honored during a trip to Washington D.C. celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Toshiba/NSTA ExploraVision program, the world's largest K-12 student science and technology competition.

The celebration kicked off May 31 with this year's top winners presenting their innovative ideas for future technologies at a Congressional Science Fair.

Land O' Lakes, Florida -- Countryside Montessori Charter came in 2nd place in the 2012 Toshiba/NSTA ExploraVision Competition, the world's largest K-12 student science and technology competition.

This year, the program received 4,809 team projects that included 14,606 students from across the U.S. and Canada.

For the finals, eight national winners proposed new inventions and technologies that could make the future more environmentally-conscious, healthier and safer.
