Are you ready for the Longleaf Triathlon?

New Port Richey, Florida - Get ready for the Longleaf Triathlon!

It's coming up on October 16 at 8 a.m., and early registration is recommended.

Considered one of the Tampa Bay Area's premier multi-sports events, the Longleaf offers a swim in a pristine, freshwater lake; scenic bike tour through Starkey Wilderness Park's nature bike trail and a fast-paced ride down SR 54; and run through the quaint town of Longleaf.

This event is a fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Seven Springs and competitors will find exceptional race management and friendly volunteers along the race course.

All participants in the Longleaf Triathlon who complete a Tourism Survey and Bike Entry Form and turn it in at packet pick-up, will be registered for this outrageous bike valued at $2,200 courtesy of Chainwheel Drive.

Benjamin returns to roots as coach

New Port Richey, Fla. -- Ryan Benjamin lives for River Ridge football.  He just never thought he'd be back on the sideline after graduation in 1996.

Benjamin is still running his successful air conditioning business.  But he now has a second job as the head football coach at his alma mater.

"Honestly, I never saw myself as being a coach," Benjamin said.

Pasco karate kids take 34 medals in national competition

New Port Richey, Florida -- Ingram's Karate, an organization known for powerful karate teachings at two locations in the Bay area, recently earned top honors in competition.

Both the Carrollwood and New Port Richey 'Dojos' saw students win big at the 2011 AAU Karate Nationals. The competition team won 10 gold medals, and two of the teen instructors, Austin Stone and Yvar Bajala, earned two National Championship wins each.

The team won a total of 34 medals at the Nationals tournament this year.

Many students commute from throughout Pasco County, proving their dedication to the art of karate.

Buffalo Wild Wings celebrates a season saved!

New Port Richey, FL -- Buffalo Wild Wings is honoring its promise to give away six free wings to anyone who signed its "Save our Season" petition on Facebook.

Despite the fact that the Buffalo Wild Wings' July 20 deadline passed before the labor disagreement was resolved, the company is lifting the date restriction and will give away more than 270,000 wings to the more than 45,000 supporters who signed the petition.

Fans who signed the petition will be notified through Facebook and coupons can be redeemed on gamedays in September.

Lutz, Florida -- The Lutz Leaguerettes softball league will be hosting the 'Fall Ball 2011' slow-and-fast-pitch softball tournament for girls ages 4-18, with practices starting the week of August 15 and games beginning the week of August 27.

Interested players can register now until August 6 online, or on-site on July 23 or August 6, from 9 a.m. - noon at the Oscar Cooler Sports Complex on Lutz Lake Fern Road.

Pasco athlete brings home Special Olympics medals

Holiday, FL -- Special Olympics athletes Michael Tuason of Holiday and Mark Zak of Riverview have returned from the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Athens, Greece with more than just memories for a lifetime – they brought home medals!

Michael Tuason competed in swimming and earned Gold in both the 400 and 800 meter freestyle events and Bronze in both the 1500 meter freestyle and the 4x50 Medley relay. Mark Zak competed in cycling and earned Gold in the 1K time trial and Silver in the 10K time trial.
