Fall means festivals and sports in Pasco County

Pasco County, Florida -- The cooler temperatures this weekend will welcome two major sport events and the return of the Cotee River Bike Fest to kickoff the fall tourism season in Pasco County.

Thursday, Oct. 11, through Sunday, Oct. 14, it's the 8th annual Cotee River Bike Fest and this Saturday, Oct. 13, it's the Sqwish-Sqwash Oktoberfest Challenge at the Starkey Ranch and on Sunday, Oct. 14, it's the annual Longleaf Triathlon at the Longleaf Town Center.

Storm quarterback to discuss Pasco Sheriff's Golf Classic

New Port Richey, Florida -- Sheriff Chris Nocco will be joined by former Florida State University and Tampa Bay Storm quarterback Drew Weatherford to talk about the importance of youth football in his career tomorrow morning, Oct. 10 at the Sheriff's Administration building.

The Sheriff's 2012 Golf Classic Tournament scheduled for Oct. 22 at Lake Jovita Golf Course will benefit the Pasco Police Athletic League, which Weatherford participated in during his youth.

1st Annual 5K Run and Free 1-mile Family Walk

Port Richey, Florida -- The 5K Fun Run and Free 1-Mile Family Walk is coming up on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 7:30 a.m.

The event, at 8119 Old Post Road in Port Richey, will promote Infant Mortality Prevention and Awareness. The Healthy Start Coalition of Pasco is a non-profit organization that advocates for and serves pregnant women and babies in Pasco County.

Golfers, businesses invited to Pasco Sheriff's 34th Annual Golf Classic

Dade City, Florida -- Pasco Sheriff Chris Nocco is inviting area golfers and businesses to support the 2012 Pasco Sheriff's Golf Classic at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club in Dade City.

The tournament supports Pasco youth charities each year and this year the charity event will focus their efforts on helping the Pasco Police Athletic League (PPAL).

New Port Richey, Florida -- The Tampa Bay Sports Group will be hosting Little Kicks Soccer at the Recreation & Aquatic Center in New Port Richey.

Classes begin Saturday, Sept. 15 and will run through June 2013.

There is an annual registration fee of $15, which includes a T-shirt. The monthly fee is $40. This non-competitive form of soccer is taught at the basic level and focuses on skills, drills and games.  

Class days and times are Saturdays from 12 noon to 12:45 p.m. for kids ages 3-4, and Saturdays from 1:00 to 2:45 p.m. for kids ages 5-7.

'Last Splash' End of Summer Pool Party

New Port Richey, Florida -- Come out this Saturday for the last big pool party of the season before kids return to school.

The night-time pool party will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and along with swimming, guests will enjoy a live D.J., games and prizes. 

Admission is $5 per person.

Pasco County, Florida -- In recognition of World Habitat Day 2012, Habitat for Humanity of East & Central Pasco County will be featured at the Tampa Bay Rays game against the Orioles, on Oct. 1, to address the need for decent housing around the world, including in Pasco County.
