New Port Richey, Florida -- The Pasco County Sheriff's Office has announced a DUI checkpoint Friday night in the Moon Lake area.

The checkpoint will be conducted at 10555 Moon Lake Road at the Bright House Networks building from 9:30 p.m. to midnight.

National Click It or Ticket effort begins Monday

Zephyrhills, Florida -- The 2012 national Click It or Ticket seat belt enforcement campaign kicks off today, May 21 and the Zephyrhills Police Department is joining the effort to keep motorists safe.

The police department announced Monday that motorists should beware as officers will be out in force to issue tickets to those who choose not to wear seat belts.

Pasco County, Florida -- On May 5, Pasco County put into service the first of five brand new Freightliner medium duty Rescue units built by Wheeled Coach.

The first one, R-17, serves Vets Village, Seven Springs, part of the Trinity and surrounding areas of New Port Richey.

Truck crashed into lightpole, shut down Suncoast Parkway

Odessa- The Suncoast Parkway was shut down for several hours after a serious traffic accident that resulted in transporting the driver and passenger by medical helicopter. 

Florida Highway Patrol reported in the early evening hours of Saturday, May 5, Carl Whaley, 36, of Tampa was driving a Chevy S-10, lost control of the vehicle and crossed the highway lanes. The truck then struck and knocked down a light pole on the outside shoulder, overtuned several times, coming to a final rest on its roof.

Heather Jolan Whaley, 36, also from Tampa was a passenger in the truck.

Dade City, Florida -- The Dade City Commission voted on April 26 to suspend Transportation Impact Fees (TIF) for a period of two years, according to the Pasco Economic Development Council.

This TIF suspension is part of a new aggressive city effort with the Greater Dade City Chamber of Commerce and the Dade City Main Street organization to encourage job creation and economic development.

Dade City, Florida -- Pasco Regional Medical Center in Dade City is offering a AARP Safety Driver Program on March 14.

"The AARP Driver Safety Program is the nation's first and largest classroom refresher course designed especially for drivers 50 and older to promote safe driving and help seniors maintain their mobility and independence.

New Port Richey Main Street widening update

New Port Richey Main Street widening update

New Port Richey, Fla. -- As of March 2, 2012, the City of New Port Richey has announced the Main Street Widening project is 90 percent complete, with substantial completion expected by the end of March. 

Currently, the project is on schedule with no delays expected.  Roadway asphalt pavement and landscaping will be completed within the next two weeks.

The New Port Richey Public Works Department apologizes for any inconvenience this project has caused.
