'Warning phase' for red light cameras comes to an end

New Port Richey, Florida - As of late May 2011, red light cameras were up and operational at several US 19 locations in New Port Richey.

The intersections include Main Street southbound, Marine Parkway southbound, Cross Bayou northbound, and Gulf Drive northbound and southbound. All intersections are clearly marked with notices.

Up until today, the red light camera program was in the warning phase, with violators being addressed by the issuance of courtesy warnings. Now, on June 15, the violation warning phase will cease, and fines will be assessed for failing to stop for red lights.

Pasco's 'Click It or Ticket' campaign gains steam

Land O' Lakes, FL -- Pasco County motorists who don't buckle up and are caught by troopers will have to pay up and fines could be as high as $114 for adults and even higher if you don't buckle up your child sitting in the front seat.

The Florida Highway Patrol has begun a seat belt awareness campaign across the state in conjunction with the national Click It or Ticket campaign that  is designed to remind motorists that buckling up is not only the law, it saves lives.

The Pasco County Sheriff's Office routinely enforces seat belt laws but during this campaign the effort will be beefed up.

Lane closures announced in Pasco

In Pasco County, US 19 between the Pinellas County Line and Marine Parkway will experience lane closures. Pavement is being added to right turn lanes, and median modifications are also taking place.

These nightly lane closures will be in effect Sunday, April 24 – Thursday, April 28 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Pedestrian killed in Port Richey

Florida Highway Patrol responded to a fatal accident in Port Richey today.

21-year-old Jordan A. Moe? was traveling south on Colony Road in his Hyundai Elantra. A 53-year-old pedestrian named Raymond Horace Sanders? was walking south on Colony Road along the fog line (outside roadway edge).  Moe failed to observe the pedestrian walking along the roadway and the right front of his vehicle struck the left side of the pedestrian.

Land O' Lakes, FL -- Pasco County will be having a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Tuesday, April 5 from 4 - 5 p.m., to mark the opening of Collier Parkway to traffic between Hale Road and Parkway Boulevard. 

The ceremony will be held at the Dupree Lakes East entrance on Collier Parkway.

Expect school buses delayed a half hour in West Pasco

New Port Richey, FL -- Parents should expect their kids' buses to be delayed about half an hour due to the severe weather that blew through Pasco County early this morning. 

Pasco County Schools decided to pull buses that were on their routes off the roads when the first severe line of showers blew through West Pasco around 6:30 a.m.
