Its cold outside! Shelter info for the weekend

Pasco County -- A cold front moving through the area this weekend is going to bring temperatures down early Sunday morning in the 30's throughout Pasco County.

These conditions will continue Sunday night and into Monday morning.

These low temperatures and wind chills are dangerous to anyone who will be outside for a long period of time. Children, the elderly and pets are especially vulnerable to the cold and extra care should be taken to protect them. Make sure to bundle up and dress in layers to keep as warm as possible!

Pasco County, FL -- With a low pressure system holding temperatures predicted into the 30's throughout Pasco County for the next two days, the Office of Emergency Managemnet is opening cold weather shelters Friday and Saturday night.

The following shelters will be open at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday:

With a low pressure system predicted to hold temperatures overnight in the 30's throughout Pasco County and again Tuesday, the Office of Emergency Management will be opening the following cold weather shelters Monday and Tuesday nights.

Flood Warning issued for Pasco county

Flood Warning issued for Pasco county

As of 10:27 a.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, The National Weather Service in Tampa, FL has issued a Flood Warning in Pasco County.

The warning is in effect until further notice. At 10 a.m. Tuesday the flood stage was 7.6 feet, and minor flooding is forecast to rise above the flood stage of 8 feet by early Thursday morning and continue to rise to nearly 8.4 feet by Saturday morning.

Pasco County, Florida - Pasco County residents are watching the path of Hurricane Irene closely.  So is the Pasco County Emergency Management Department.

With the storm forecast to brush by Florida's east coast later this week, take the time to review your family's hurricane plan.  There is still three months left in the season.  Earlier this month, NOAA forecasters updated their prediction to: 

  • 14-19 Named Storms
  • 7-10 Hurricanes
  • 3-5 Major Hurricanes

 

Irene is the ninth named storm and the first hurricane of the 2011 Atlantic season.

Lutz, Florida -- East-West Animal Hospital (1524 Land O’Lakes Blvd, Tropical Village Plaza) is hosting a complimentary seminar called 'Hurricane Preparedness and Your Pet' on Saturday July 9, 2011 at 10 a.m. It will be presented by Linda Register, DVM, CVA.

The seminar will last until 11:30 a.m. and will include what to do before the storm season begins, when a storm may strike, when it arrives and in the aftermath. 

Please call ahead to reserve your spot as seating is limited.  Complimentary refreshments and snacks will be provided.
